4 Simple Tips on How to Speed Up Eyelid Surgery Recovery

4 Simple Tips on How to Speed Up Eyelid Surgery Recovery

One of the simplest yet most effective ways to rejuvenate is through eyelid surgery, which eliminates drooping and other signs of aging in the area.

After undergoing a lower or upper blepharoplasty, you may be eager to get on the path to healing so that you can enjoy your new look. Here are four tips on how to speed up eyelid surgery recovery!

Follow These Four Tips on How to Speed Up Eyelid Surgery Recovery

As with any surgical procedure, blepharoplasty does require some downtime. These tips and tricks can help you get back to your normal routine as quickly as possible.

  • Apply cold compresses. One of the best things you can do during the early days of your recovery is to apply ice packs, which helps to reduce swelling and discomfort. It also constricts the blood vessels to keep bruising at a minimum.
  • Keep your head elevated. This is key for reducing pressure on the incision and sutures. When laying down, maintain a reclined posture with the upper body.
  • Avoid rubbing the eyes. As your eyelids begin to heal, you may experience itching. The natural response is to rub the eyes, but this can have a serious effect on your results. Avoid rubbing or otherwise putting pressure on your eyes at all costs. If you suffer from allergies that cause itchy, watery eyes, be sure to take an allergy medication.
  • Rest and take it easy. Even as you start to feel better, it’s important to take it easy after eyelid surgery. Avoid strenuous activities, heavy lifting, and bending over for at least a week post-up. And most importantly, rest! Relaxation and sleep after eyelid surgery are essential for faster healing.
